Succeed.

14% of children are identified each year with developmental delays - the CDC estimates the number is closer to 1 in 4.

These children do not reach physical, learning, language, or behavioral developmental milestones at the same rate as their peers. They often are diagnosed later with attention deficit disorders, speech delays, social-emotional challenges, and difficult behavior.

This impacts their day-to-day life and can last a lifetime…..

OTchildren is dedicated to help these children develop all the abilities they need for a happy childhood and a successful adult life.

Our Story

Our founder is an internationally trained Occupational Therapist with extensive experience in Neurology, Pediatrics, and Technology with a desire for ongoing learning to expand her expertise.

She is also the parent of a child with special needs, thus understanding the impact on family dynamics and the journey of skill development.

It is her experience that guides our work to contribute to communities, create opportunities for children, and go “one step beyond”.

Our Approach

Meaningful Activities to Grow Skills and Engagement

We are not just concerned with developmental milestones but also with the quality of movement that affects how much a child will participate and engage with others. Oftentimes even a small deficit can cause problematic behaviors, impacting a child’s emotional and social abilities as well as family life.

At OTchildren we address these areas as interdependent to maximize potential.

Our Expertise

Our founder has been an occupational therapist for over 30 years with more than 2000 hours of professional development.

She holds specialty certification for Assistive Technology (including Augmentative & Alternate Communication) and Feeding + Swallowing, is licensed in 3 States, and teaches nationally and internationally.

We will happily share more info about therapists that may be working with you.

Assessments & Consultation

Sir Hugh Rigby, Surgeon to King George V, was once asked “What makes a great Surgeon?”

Sir Hugh Rigby replied, “There isn’t much difference to choose between surgeons in manual dexterity. What distinguishes the great surgeon is that they know more”.

The same applies to Occupational Therapists.

With support from OTchildren, you will learn how to apply your skills comprehensively ensuring positive results

Trainings

Each baby is born with more than 85 Billion neurons in their brain.

It is the connections between them that matter.

Neuroplasticity refers to the brain's constant capability to establish novel pathways and connections, thereby facilitating change, adaptation, and learning. This capacity is at its peak during a child's initial years and diminishes as adolescence approaches.

Therefore early years are important.

Research shows, 87% of parents believe their childcare provider does not have adequate training to identify children that would benefit from Early Intervention.

With training from OTchildren you will learn to effectively nurture active engagement to foster each child in their development and learning

Program Development

In another study, 68% of parents believe their preschool teacher does not have adequate training to effectively aid children with different learning needs. This study was conducted in preschools catering to typically developing children.

Each child has a Unique Learning Profile. Many “differences” become diagnosed later as invisible disabilities and it is scientifically proven that the earlier support is provided the faster challenges can be overcome. The more adeptly a program accommodates a variety of learning styles, the higher the achievements of its graduates as they transition into the broader world.

OTchildren can help you establish a learning environment that provides comprehensive support for all learners, facilitating the development of their foundational skills.
